2024 - What a Year!

We would just like to thank everyone who has done amazing things for the Children of South Cave School this year! We raised a whopping £17,463.71 last acedemic year (Sept 23 - Aug 24) and have raised a further £10,000 since September 2024!

We have created an outdoor classroom, funded 2 Nurture rooms (scroll down for more information on these). We have supported the installation of new blinds across the school, purchased books including specialised dyslexia reading books, funded transport to the theatre for the whole school, paid for a visit by Guy Bass - childrens author and paid for phase 1 of the IT upgrade including a new projector and Wifi Improvements. And as you can see we have shot up to over £20,000 of our £30,000 target - which is to complete phase 2 of the IT upgrade and provide our children a better digital education.

There have been numerous other purchases via our Amazon Wishlist too  - our school community is truly wonderful and we are proud to be a part of it. Please continue to support the PTA and remember - it doesn't matter how small your contribution, if it is money or your time - it will leave a huge legacy not only at the school but in the future of our children. Thank you.

What is the PTA?

Meet the parents in the team...

Our Parent Teacher Association is a registered charity run by parents, carers and teachers of children at South Cave Primary School. We are volunteers who give our time to organise events and fundraise to enrich the lives of the children who attend our school.

We are all busy parents – we don’t have loads of free time to offer, but we find that if we give a little – the sum ends up being far greater than the small parts we play. We work hard but have lots of fun along the way. It’s a great way to meet other parents and teachers at the school, to make new friends and have a laugh, all whilst raising money to benefit our children.

We meet each half term, usually on a Monday at 7:30pm in the community room at school, where we discuss what our fundraising goals are for the children and plan events to help us achieve these goals – with events we hope will also be fun for all!

We’d love you to be a part of the team – everyone is welcome and you don’t need any specific skills – we’d love to see you at our next meeting, alternatively drop us a line at friends@southcaveprimary.co.uk or come and have a chat with one of us in the playground.

Outdoor learning space completed!

The outdoor learning space on the veranda area is now ready for the children to use!! Thank you so much for all your support of our events - together we did it!

The area is now full of vibrant colours, a big upgrade from the grey empty space it once was. It is now a great space for the children to be outside for lunchtimes and for outdoor lessons, the parasols offer protection from the sun and the planting provides points of learning and we have included scented and textural plants which will hopefully add to the childrens sense of wellbeing.

What's Next?

Digital Excellence!

Its time for a digital upgrade. We all know how fast IT has been developing, unfortunately the school have not been able to keep up with the changes over the last decade - owing the fact the Schools in East Yorkshire are some of the least well funded in the country! So whilst our children have an IT suite it needs dragging back into the 21st century!

Thanks to your support and donations we have been able to complete phase 1 which included the replacement of the Wifi, system switches and the projector in the hall which is a great start.

Now comes the big challenge.. replacing all the computers - we need £30,000 to do this but with you support we are sure we can rise to the challenge!!

Nurture Room.

Your tremendous support also allowed us to provide the school with funding for a nurture room.

A Nurture room provides a safe, predictable and structured place to further children with their emotional and social development and are particulalry useful for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Mrs Ali has been busy purchasing the equipment and furniture for the room, we hope it has a hugely positive impact on the children.

Can You Help?

There are things you can do to help us raise funds or support the school, many of which you don't have to leave your sofa to do!

Amazon Wish List

We have seen some amazing generosity from many families / businesses purchasing items from the Schools Amazon wish list over the last 8 months! We are pleased to confirm new items have been added and we welcome you to check it out! Here is a little reminder of what the Amazon wish list is all about! 🤩

What is it? It is a wish list of items on Amazon that the school would love to have to help support our children’s learning.

How do I access it? Click on the link below.

How does it work? Allows the school to share the items they would love to have to support your child’s development and learning. The school will add more items as items are purchased. Business’s, Parents, family and friends can go on and purchase items for the school at any time. You can see instantly how the money you spend will support the school.

What is on the list? A variety of items and some items are priced at a few pounds. Once items are purchased they will disappear from the Amazon wish list and new items will be added by the school.

Is there a set time frame for purchasing? We do encourage you to have a look and see if you are able to support but the Amazon wish list will be available all year round.

Join the team!

We NEED YOU! Without the support of parents / gaurdians of the children at the school the PTA will not survive! We are a small voluntary run charity but as you can see we have a big impact on the children of South Cave School  - you could too!

We are a friendly bunch working together to deliver events and raise funds, we mix and match tasks we need to do with the skills and time constraints of the team, we also run event teams for each event so we don't all get involved in every event (none of us have time!). Our meetings are only 6 times a year - once per half term on Mondays at 7:30.

We have a number of roles on the committee, why not a take a look and see if one suits you, we hold our AGM once a year (usually January), you can put yourself forward for a role. Alternatively if you just want to see how it all works - simply pop along to our regular meetings, you will be most welcome and its usually an opportunity to meet other parents and even end up laughing!

We elect our committee members at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) usually held between November and January. If you would be interested in joining us why not take a look at the roles available and put yourself forward at the next AGM, we'd love to have some more folks join us in our mission to enrich the education of our children!
